Not yarn related but...
My husband owns the UK Shoppe here in Peterborough and in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, he is hosting a great little celebration at his shop this weekend.

Tessa Mittens
Last winter, a co-worker asked me to make her mittens that would fit her small hands. I found a few patterns that would work, but I didn't like the construction. I'd recently been making socks toe-up, two-at-a-time, so I figured that I could make mittens the same way.
I present you with the Tessa Mittens...

You can find the pattern here.
Also, I will have a similar pattern, coming soon. Rainbow Brite would be proud!

Celebrating the Yarn Community in Peterborough
The second annual Fibre Arts festival happens this weekend at the Peterborough Public Library. It runs from 10-4pm and only cost $2. There will be a ton of demonstrations and vendors...from knitting to papermaking, from rug hooking to tatting. Come and enjoy the amazing community of fibre enthusiasts found in the Peterborough area!
Also, coming up in June is the World Wide Knit in Public Day, which is a week-long event running from the first Saturday to the second Sunday in June. This year, in Peterborough, please join us at Millennium Park from 10-2pm for an afternoon of knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning....fibre arts in general.
Bring a lawnchair, your knitting, some snack and enjoy another day of fibrey-goodness!

Happy Anniversary, Kniterary
This past month, November, our Kniterary Nights at the Peterborough Public Library turned 2! Erica Patterson, an EA at my high school, helped us out by creating this amazing knitting cake. Yes, those were real knitting needles! The yarn balls had lovely spheres of cake inside!

Great Garale Sale Find
Went garage saling with mom last weekend in Campbellford and found this awesome makeup/jewelry tote box. I knew it would be perfect for a knitting notions organizer and it is...
Which means now I have some makeup bags and notions boxes, and a handful of crochet hooks, up for grabs...

First Project for "Diana Prince"
Although this may not seem to be fit for Wonder Woman, this basket is just the kind of a project that "Diana Prince" would use in her quest to save the world!

But we must wait a little longer, for the sewn liner and handles.

More Markers...
I've got some new markers done. I'm taking them to my knitting group tonight, but they'll also be available at Needles in the Hay, in Peterborough ($7 set). Some are for crocheting or knitting, some are just for knitting.
